This is a short policy because Hey Socrates collects almost nothing. Here is all of it, in plain language.

What I collect

Your email address — and your first name, if you give it — only if you send them to me to get updates about Socrates. That’s it. I don’t ask for anything else and there’s nothing else to give. The prompt itself is on the Get Hey Socrates page for anyone to copy; you don’t have to give me anything to use it.

The site may also count basic, anonymous visits: how many people came, and which pages they looked at. No names attached, no profiles built, no advertising trackers.

Why I collect it

Three reasons, all of them practical:

1. To keep a record of who joined during the beta, so I can honor the promise that beta testers get a full year free after launch.
2. To email you about Socrates — improvements, fixes, and eventually pricing news. Nothing else, and never anyone else’s marketing.
3. To help you if you get stuck on setup and write to me.

Where it goes

Your name and email are kept in my email list (currently SendFox), which is how I keep the dated beta list and send updates. Nobody else receives it. I don’t sell it, rent it, trade it, or hand it to advertisers.

What I never see

Your sessions. This is the important one.

When you talk to Socrates, that conversation happens inside your own Claude account, in a project you created. It never touches this website and it never reaches me. I cannot read your sessions. I do not receive copies, summaries, or excerpts. Nothing you say to Socrates becomes a record of any kind that I hold.

I built the tool. I am not on the other end of it.

Your Claude account

Socrates runs inside Claude, which is made by Anthropic, not by me. How Anthropic handles what you type is covered by their privacy policy: https://www.anthropic.com/privacy.

Deleting things

Your sessions are yours to delete. Remove a single conversation, or the whole Socrates project, from your Claude account whenever you like.

Your name and email are yours to remove too. Click unsubscribe at the bottom of any email I send, or write to drbelton@wisefellows.com and ask me to delete you. I’ll do it and confirm.

Children

Hey Socrates isn’t built for or directed at children under 13, and I don’t knowingly collect anything from them.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that matters, I’ll email the people on the beta list rather than quietly updating the page.
