Thank you for telling me. Most people go quiet when something doesn’t work, and then I never find out — so this genuinely helps.
The usual culprit
Socrates has to go in the project’s Instructions box — not into a chat message, and not into the project description. Those three boxes look alike and only one of them works.
Open your project, look for the box labelled “Add instructions to tailor Claude’s responses”, paste there, and press Save. Then start a new chat inside that project — a chat you already had open won’t pick it up.
Then check it took
Say Hey Socrates. You should get a greeting and a question. If you get the ordinary “how can I help you today,” the prompt didn’t save — that’s the tell.
Still stuck? Stop.
Really — put it down. Five minutes is the limit I promised you and I meant it. Reply to the email I sent you; “I’m stuck” is a complete message.
